Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT)

For: children 12 to 48 months at the start of the intervention

Pivotal response training (PRT) is a way to teach children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) social communication and regulation using a natural teaching style. PRT focuses on using children's motivation to learn new skills and has excellent results with toddlers with ASD.

In PRT, communication, social skills, and regulation are worked on naturally in play. These skills are pivotal because they are the foundational skills that can lead to improvements in other areas of a child's life.

Procedures used in PRT include child choice, rewards for trying and using rewards that are related to the activity being taught.  This program builds on a child’s initiative and interests and helps them develop communication, language, play, and social skills.

PRT is a 12-week program.  Appointments are one hour, once per week.  PRT is offered virtually or in person depending on your location.
