Art Journaling Series for Youth

This group is for TVCC youth and their siblings (12 yrs +) of all abilities who reside within Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties.

What to Expect

TVCC youth clients (12+ yrs) with disabilities and their siblings are invited to this unique program designed to inspire creative exploration and foster self-expression through the creation of their very own art journal. Participants are welcome to have a support person present to assist them with accommodations.

In this 8-week series, participants will delve into the world of art journalling - a dynamic and adaptable medium that transcends traditional artistic boundaries. Art journalling provides a safe and adaptable method for youth to explore and process their thoughts, emotions, and memories through the powerful language of creative expression.

Participants will be provided with a journal and all materials.

There are 2 options to join: in person at TVCC or virtually on Teams.

In this program youth will:

  • Interact with other TVCC clients like them
  • Participate in self-expression activities to develop self-awareness
  • Learn different journalling techniques, including creative writing and visual arts

Participant Criteria:

  • TVCC client(ages 12+) living in Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties
  • Able to participate in a group and engage in artistic expression with or without accommodations.
  • If joining virtually, able and willing to participate in a virtual group using camera and microphone and/or chat

This series is part of our Horizons Youth Program and the TVCC Wellness Project. The Wellness Project is a three-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. Over the next three years, we'll be running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.
