Participation Programs

Life is all about participation!

TVCC offers a range of participation programs (camps and activities) helping clients and families to be their best. 

The primary purpose of Participation programs is to ensure kids have access to an appropriate range of activities and experiences to optimize their growth and development.

These participation programs offer clients the chance to get involved in opportunities and activities that they may not otherwise experience. These opportunities range from groups held at TVCC or community locations for early skill development to supports for participation in fully integrated community programs. Caregivers Connecting: Caregivers of Children/Youth

(In-Person, 3rd Tues each month until Aug) Caregivers and parents, of TVCC clients ages, with disabilities can share their experiences, information, challenges, successes and strategies, or just hang out and drink some coffee!

Mail Club: Horizons Pen Pals (12 yrs +)

(Virtual - June 30-Sept 30) Horizons will match potential Pen Pals by interests, abilities, and type of mail (letters, art work, paper crafts, stickers). The matches will be completed based on the answers listed in Eventbrite.

Happy Mail: Letters & Doodles (12 yrs +)

(In-person, twice a month, Jul 2 - Aug 20) Do you enjoy happy mail (receiving/sending letters, art work, paper crafts or stickers)? Are you participating in our Mail Club: Horizons Pen Pals group? This program will support participants with communicating with other youth in a fun and creative manner. We will share doodling and simple calligraphy techniques as well as pratice our colouring and decorating skills.

Bowling and Ice Cream at Fleetway (12 yrs +)

(In-person, July 4) We'll be bowling for an hour, followed by a stop for ice cream at Dairy Queen. Come have some fun with friends, while getting some low-impact physical activity.

(In-person, July 7-11) This inclusive camp will feature themed hands-on activities. With Backyard Biology your child will discover a magnificent and microscopic world hiding right in your own backyard.

Summer Sampler Camp for Youth (12 yrs+)

(In-person, July 7-11) Our carefully crafted activities aim to build confidence, nurture social skills, and spark new interests in each youth. With a focus on inclusivity, our camp creates a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

(Virtually, Jul 8-Aug 19) Every Tuesday, we will work together to build our home base, collect resources, and survive through the nights.

Quiet Swim (2-6 yrs)

(In-person, Weds, July 9-30) This program is designed to provide a calm, low stimulation environment to allow children to become comfortable in the water with the support of a parent/caregiver. This program is unstructured and child led, and facilitated by a Recreation Therapist to support early transitions and comfort in the water.

Nintendo Switch Party (12 yrs+)

(In-person, Jul 9) Join Horizons and The Wellness Project for Nintendo Switches parties! We connect TVCC's Nintendo Switch consoles to two big screens for everyone to play together. We have a few games to choose from, or youth are also welcome to bring any multiplayer games they'd like to play with the group.

(In-person, Thurs; Jul 10-Aug 21) Whether you are a seasoned adventurer or a beginner just stepping into the realm of tabletop gaming, our weekly sessions offer a welcoming and supportive environment for all.

Let's Play Minecraft In-Person! (12 yrs +)

(In-person, Fri; Jul 11-Aug 22) Come explore the vast and creative world of Minecraft while getting to know other TVCC clients. This group is similar to our virtual Minecraft group, just in-person to allow for more socializing.
