Therapeutic Recreation

Therapeutic Recreation (TR) helps children, youth and families experience and enjoy their leisure, sport and recreation to the fullest.

By working together to support and create meaningful opportunities, we enhance opportunities for participation as fully and independently as possible.

Access to Services

Therapeutic Recreation is available to all TVCC clients living in London/Middlesex, Elgin, Oxford, Huron, Perth, Grey, and Bruce counties. You can get involved at any stage of your child's journey!

  • Let’s Talk Recreation: This is a great starting point for families interested in getting started with Therapeutic Recreation. Meet virtually with a Recreation Therapist to learn more about Therapeutic Recreation at TVCC, inclusive and specialized community recreation opportunities, or discuss ideas to support your recreation goals. If you have general questions or not sure how to get started, book a call with a TR and we will get you on the right path.

  • Referrals: Talk to your TVCC clinician about a referral to Therapeutic Recreation or use the Intake & Referral form to self refer. This form can also be used by community professionals, physicians and educators to make a referral to Therapeutic Recreation. Referrals can also be made after participating in a virtual Let’s Talk Recreation call.

  • Open Houses: Our TR team holds two Open Houses each year to keep you up to date and informed on community recreation opportunities for children and youth with disabilities. Our September Open House focuses on year-round opportunities, and our January Open House focuses on Summer Camps.
  • Opportunities to Participate: Our Therapeutic Recreation team offers group participation programs throughout the year. These offerings can be found on our Participation Programs webpage. Information will be posted on TVCC Participation Page with registration information.
