What to Expect
Intro to open volunteer night at the Cavendish Community Food Hub.
Gardening is a great way to be active, learn new skills and spend some quality time together as a family!
TVCC’s Wellness Project is partnering with The Patch London to introduce our clients and their families the opportunity to garden together at the open volunteer night at the Cavendish Community Food Hub.
Take in the sunshine and get your hands dirty! Staff and volunteers from both TVCC and the Patch will be on site this date to guide and introduce clients and families in the gardening activities.
After this introduction families are welcome to continue attending the open volunteer evenings on Thursdays between 5:00-7:00 pm.
The Patch's Cavendish garden site is a fully accessible garden featuring all raised beds, accessible washrooms, and is an enclosed space.
Free parking is available on local streets. Families can bring their own gardening tools and gloves, and we have some to share too. This is a rain or shine event, so come prepared!
Through this event, youth and their families will:
- Meet and interact with other TVCC youth and families
- Participate in physical activity in an adaptive environment
- Learn gardening skills
Participant criteria:
- TVCC clients and their families
- Interest and willingness to participate in gardening activities
- Able to participate safely in a group setting with or without accommodations
This is a family event and parents and/or caregivers are expected to remain on site
The PATCH is a collaborative project by Hutton House, Nathan T. Deslippe Memorial Fund and Kensington Village Association to bring urban agriculture skills training, horticultural therapy, and community hospitality to everyone in London. The food grown through PATCH programming is distributed to people in need at a number of local agencies. Learn more at https://www.patchlondon.ca/
The Wellness Project is a four-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families.
