Reality 101: Sex, Relationships, and Disability - Youth & Parent Sessions

For youth with physical disabilities, 15 - 21 yrs, and their parents/caregivers.

What to Expect

Join the Horizons' team for a series where we talk about the stuff that matters — honestly, openly, and without judgment.

Youth and Parent/Caregivers register into different concurrent sessions. Reality 101 will consist of workshops around topics relevant to TVCC clients, starting with Sex, Relationships, and Disability.

This Reality 101: Sex, Relationships, and Disability workshop is a space created just for youth ages 15–21 yrs with physical disabilities to explore real questions about sex, relationships, identity, boundaries, and more. Whether you're curious, confused, confident, or just want to listen — you're welcome here.

We know this topic can feel awkward, private, or even off-limits, so we have designed this workshop to be a low-pressure, safe, and inclusive space. Through anonymous Q&A, guest speakers with lived experience, and group conversations, we’ll cover what you need and want to know.

YOUTH SESSION

This isn’t about lectures or rules. It’s about understanding your body, your rights, your relationships, and your choices — in a way that makes sense for you.

What to expect:

  • Anonymous questions answered honestly
  • Real stories from people who’ve been where you are
  • Judgment-free conversation about sex, love, dating, consent, and more
  • A supportive community of peers who get it

You don’t need to know anything before joining — just bring your questions, your voice (if you want to use it), and an open mind. There will also be an opportunity to schedule a time to meet one-on-one with a Horizons team member should you have further questions or concerns that are not addressed in this workshop.

PARENT/CAREGIVER SESSION

This session will run at the same time, in a different room, as the youth session on the same topic. While the youth talk together parents and caregivers will gather seperately with a Parent Mentor and Social Worker to have their own conversation.

There will also be an opportunity to schedule a time to meet one-on-one with a team member should you have further questions or concerns that are not addressed in this workshop.
