Participation Programs

Life is all about participation!

TVCC offers a range of participation programs (camps and activities) helping clients and families to be their best.

The primary purpose of Participation programs is to ensure kids have access to an appropriate range of activities and experiences to optimize their growth and development.

These participation programs offer clients the chance to get involved in opportunities and activities that they may not otherwise experience. These opportunities range from groups held at TVCC or community locations for early skill development to supports for participation in fully integrated community programs. Movie Mondays for Teens (12 yrs +)

(In-person, July 27, Aug 17) Each afternoon will feature a accessible and fun for everyone Movie! Including snacks and cozy couch seating! Movies include - July 27th: Barbie, August 17th: The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Enjoy!

(In-person, All abilities - July 7, 14, Aug 18 and Para Sport - July 21, 28 & Aug 11) Looking for an inclusive place to play this summer? Join us for a relaxed, drop-in outdoor play time in TVCC's fenced Play Garden.

Taste Buds Jr & Sr (10-14 yrs & 15 yrs +)

(In-person, July & Aug dates) Taste Buds is a therapeutic recreation group for TVCC clients designed to support the development of functional life skills, social participation, and independence through structured meal preparation activities.

Preschool Quiet Swim (2-6 yrs)

(In-person, July & Aug) This program is designed to provide a calm, low stimulation environment to allow children to become comfortable in the water with the support of a parent/caregiver. This program is unstructured and child led, and facilitated by a Recreation Therapist to support early transitions and comfort in the water.

Youth Quiet Swim (12 yrs +)

(In-person - July 13, 29, Aug 12, 24) Sessions are participant-led, unstructured, and supported by a Recreation Therapist. Youth are encouraged to explore the water at their own pace, build comfort with movement and positioning in the pool, and develop confidence participating in aquatic environments.

Nintendo Switch Party (12 yrs+)

(In-person, July 14, 28, August 11, 25) Join Horizons for Nintendo Switches parties! We connect TVCC's Nintendo Switch consoles to two big screens for everyone to play together. We have a few games to choose from, or youth are also welcome to bring any multiplayer games they'd like to play with the group.

Tween Social Swim (10-14 yrs)

(In-person, July 14, 22, Aug 10, 19) Tween Social Swim is a fun and supportive therapeutic recreation group for youth with disabilities, offered in our therapy pool. This new summer offering provides opportunities to develop and strengthen social skills in a pool setting through a combination of structured activities and unstructured social time.

Adaptive Multi-Sport (8 yrs +)

(In-person, Weds, July 15, 29, Aug 12, 26) TVCC clients, who use mobility aids and/or have unique physical needs can join us for this open-gym series to try new sports and physical activities, including adapted sport opportunities. Each Wednesday will feature a new sport to try out!

Storytelling Through Paint and Colour (12 yrs +)

Therapeutic Drumming and Music (7 yrs +)

(In-person, July/Aug dates) Each session participants will be guided through various activities using drums and other musical instruments, as well as music-inspired group activities such as crafts, games, singing dancing, and more.

Family Arts and Crafts (6 yrs +)

(In-person, July 22 &/or Aug 12) Through guided arts and crafts activities, participants can explore their creativity, build confidence, and enjoy meaningful shared experiences in a welcoming and supportive environment. The program encourages self-expression, family engagement, and social connection while offering activities that are adaptable to a range of abilities.
