We are currently recruiting for a temporary, full-time (37.5 hours per week) Occupational Therapist in Clinical and Technical Specialty Services to fill a vacancy. The successful candidate will support School Therapy Services. This position is expected to begin in September 2026 and end in June 2027. The designated office for this position will be Owen Sound.
This position is based on the school year and no work is available during school breaks, including July and August.
This exciting role provides therapy services to students in schools in Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce counties and involves working with educators, parents and fellow clinicians to support school participation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized school-based intervention in a direct/mediated/consultative approach, as well as provide consultative intervention at the classroom/school level
- Assess, advise and provide education to school personnel, clients/families and others in areas including accessibility, transfers, classroom fine motor skills, sensory skills, self-care activities, etc. Make recommendations for equipment, accessibility, assistance, exercise, activity, positioning, etc.
- Prepare and support children and families in the transition to school and throughout school life;
- Plan services as part of a multi-disciplinary team that includes the family, other care providers, school board personnel, volunteers, staff from other agencies, and other TVCC staff;
- Participate in ongoing program development;
- Clinical supervision of support personnel and students within the guidelines of The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario may be required
Qualifications:
- Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario;
- Experience in pediatrics is preferred;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work well within an inter-professional team;
- Computer proficiency including Office 365 and videoconferencing software (e.g. Teams);
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle are required;
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR;
- Ability to provide services in French is considered an asset;
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
Salary Range: $40.61-$50.76/hour
