Social Work Service

Picture of a family

Social work can play an important role in supporting children and families. Our team will help you along your journey of raising a child with a disability.

This might include connecting you with a service in the community or at TVCC. It could be helping you find possible funding or it could be brief counselling sessions. Service is provided in person, virtually, by telephone, in the community, at TVCC, or at your home.

Access to Services

Talk with one of your child's TVCC therapists about accessing this service.

What to Expect

When a request for service is received, you will be contacted to obtain further information.  You and the social work team member will determine the best way to address your needs.

Social Work Services are related to the child/youth's diagnosis and may include :

  • Adjusting to diagnosis of a disability
  • Assisting families in exploring stressors and coping strategies
  • Assisting clients and families to explore their social and emotional strengths and needs
  • Assisting families with transition planning and advocacy
  • Assisting families with service planning and access to resources
