What to Expect
Foundational Family Services are an important part of helping you support your child's/youth's development. Through a range of education workshops, resources, and coaching sessions, you will learn new strategies to help you refine the great things you are already doing to support your child. All education sessions, materials and coaching sessions are developed and provided by qualified TVCC staff.
Parents and caregivers of children and youth with autism often have many questions. We offer free 45-minute sessions with a skilled Family & Community Consultant to talk about any issues, topics, or questions you may have about your child or youth with autism. Talk with Me supports parents and caregivers to use strategies at home and in the community. They will also learn about resources to help their child and family.
Other families have asked questions such as:
- how can we get to school on time when our morning is so hectic?
- how can I help my teenager be more independent with his schedule?
- how can I help my child make new friends?
Autism & Behavioural Services at TVCC offers educational presentations weekly. Each presentation labeled “Foundational Family Services” offers up to 3 individualized consults.
Review tip sheets and videos related to autism and behaviour. Each tip sheet or video offers 1 individualized consult.
Consults
Take what you’ve learned from a presentation or resource and learn how to apply that to your child or youth with autism. You can access consults every time you attend a presentation, or read/watch a different resource.
