Individual and group treatment for children and youth with autism.

At TVCC, we offer:

  • a variety of flexible, individualized treatment programs
  • programs designed to meet  your child’s needs and your family’s preferences
  • a child and family focus in all our services
  • highly trained, professional and caring staff
  • programs that meet the Ontario government’s Core Clinical Services program requirements

All treatment is delivered in an integrated way with your child/youth's progress overseen by a Behaviour Clinician. A Speech-Language Pathologist and an Occupational Therapist will consult on relevant needs and goals during your child/youth’s assessment and if direct intervention from a Speech Language Pathologist and/or Occupational Therapist is found to be the best way to meet your child's goals, these clinicians will develop a plan with you to provide what is needed.

NOTE: In Lambton, Chatham-Kent and Essex counties, TVCC staff will work with the local Children’s Treatment Centres to support a multidisciplinary approach to treatment.

Who we serve:

Children and youth with autism/ASD and their families who live in Ontario, are registered with the Ontario Autism Program and are receiving Interim One-Time Funding (IOTF) or Core Clinical Services (CCS) funding.

Programs are available at our TVCC locations across Southwestern Ontario. Our offices are located in Chatham, London, Owen Sound*, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Stratford* and Windsor.

*In Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce counties, clients who live further than 25 km from our Stratford and Owen Sound office locations and for whom transportation is an issue, we will work with you to find a more convenient regulated community location. Travel costs will apply

About our Staff:

Autism & Behavioural Services has been providing services for children with autism/ASD and their families for over 20 years in southwestern Ontario. We have a variety of qualified, professional and caring staff who will work with you and your child to deliver high-quality and evidence-based services that meet your child’s needs.

Our staff includes Behaviour Clinicians who are Board Certified Behavior Analysts®, a Speech Language Pathologist, and an Occupational Therapist. These clinicians develop, monitor and adjust your child or youth’s individualized treatment program. While not all services may be required in each situation, our team works together to ensure the most needed skills are addressed. Each child/youth also receives direct support from qualified Instructor Therapists and/or their clinicians.

Our ABS clinical staff also includes our team of experienced Clinical Supervisors who mentor, support and provide additional supervision to our clinical teams and work with families to help them resolve any difficult challenges your child or youth experience.

What to Expect

Step 1: Welcome Call

After you register with TVCC’s Autism & Behavioural Services, our Autism Family Liaison will call you within a few weeks to speak with you about your family’s situation and the TVCC services that could best meet your needs.

Step 2: An Offer of Service to your Family

Once your child is within 2 (two) months of being offered service, we will contact you to start the process.

We will ask you to share relevant information to help us understand your child, for example, reports and background information about recent clinical services, important health and medical information, and educational history.

Step 3: Clinical Intake

The clinical intake team will review the reports and documents that you send us. The information will help us understand your child’s strengths, abilities and needs, and your family’s goals. Overall, this information allows us to plan effectively, make treatment recommendations and discuss program options, as we prepare to work with your child.

Step 4: Assessment and Treatment Planning

At the start of service, a Behaviour Clinician will be assigned to you and will begin to further assess your child’s needs and design a treatment plan. The Behaviour Clinician will also work together with the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) and/or Occupational Therapist (OT) as needed, to help develop this plan for your child/youth*.

* In Lambton, Chatham-Kent, and Essex counties, TVCC will work with the local Children’s Treatment Centres to support an integrated service plan (i.e., behavioural, speech and occupational therapies).

Step 5: Treatment

All children and youth receive individualized treatment plans created in collaboration between the family and clinical team. Individualized treatment occurs in groups, classrooms, or communities, virtually or in person, using a multi-disciplinary approach.

Payments

Once you have selected a treatment program for your child, the number of sessions per week, and the number of weeks of service you wish to purchase, we will develop a Service Agreement and payment schedule (typically 2 – 3 payments in total).

The cost of our services covers:

  • all direct intervention with your child
  • parent/caregiver meetings
  • clinical supervision and training of staff
  • consultations with education and community service providers involved with your child
  • report writing and documentation
  • program materials and supplies
  • invoices and receipts necessary to submit to the OAP with the Ontario government

There are no hidden costs. Please see the Parent Guide for more details.
