TRY IT - Building Connections through Heroes Circle (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy)

For TVCC clients, with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, age 9 years and up, who reside within Elgin-Middlesex-Oxford, Grey-Bruce, and Huron-Perth counties.

What to Expect

Join us for this in-person TRY IT opportunity for children/youth with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Participants will meet peers, try some martial arts, and explore social activities including LEGO.  Each participant will have their own space to maintain physical distance. Sensei Liam from Heroes Circle will instruct participants through traditional martial arts moves and teach us how to use breath breaks and power breathing.

Heroes Circle teaches meditation, breathing, and movement techniques found in the martial arts to empower children beyond the pain and trauma of childhood disease. The program will be supported by TVCC Therapeutic Recreation and Social Work staff.  This is a partnership Program with Liam Brennen, Heroes Circle.

If you are unable to attend in person, please let us know and we will discuss how you may be able to attend virtually.

Parents are asked to remain in the building during the program. Participants must be able to maintain physical distance from their peers and wear a mask at all times.
