TVCC Youth with disabilities, age 12 yrs & older, who do well in a loud and busy environment and who are able to stay with a group.
What to Expect
Volunteering is a valuable way to gain new experiences and skills while contributing to your community.
Join Horizons for a one hour "Learn To Volunteer" virtual workshop followed by an in-person community volunteering opportunity at the Forest City Road Races.
In this group youth will work on building independence and community connections, planning skills, and making connections with other youth.
We will cover topics like volunteering etiquette, registering to volunteer, and tips for a successful experience.
The following weekend, participants will meet up at the FCCR to volunteer at the finish line to cheer on the runners and hand out medals and water.
This event is a great opportunity for clients to get some volunteering experience in a supportive and positive environment, and also earn some volunteer hours for high school.
The finish line is fully accessible and there are accessible washrooms for those that use a mobility device.
Once you register through Eventbrite, you will get an email that will contain details about how to register for the Forest City Road Races.
This second step must be completed as FCRR need to know how many volunteers they'll have and what size t-shirt you wear.
