TVCC began providing a limited number of scheduled in-person visits with clients in mid-June. We are continuing to move towards offering more in-person client visits and will be entering Phase 2 of our reopening plan for clients July 13th. Above all else, we are taking care to ensure the safety and well-being of you our clients and our staff.
In-person appointments are being offered to clients where the need(s) cannot be addressed virtually and where delaying in-person treatment / evaluation would have a negative impact on a client’s physical health or well-being. For example, where a client may be developing a pressure sore from their adapted seating system or where there is a need for a splint to support or reposition a joint to prevent long term loss of function or damage to joint alignment. We will continue to use virtual visits wherever possible as these provide a safe and effective option to provide supports and treatments, while not creating any unnecessary exposure risks.
If it is determined that you or your child/youth may be appropriate for an in-person appointment, a TVCC staff member will contact you and walk you through what to expect. If you are not contacted and feel your child / youth has a need that fits the criteria regarding loss of function or risk to physical health and well-being as described above or have other questions or concerns, please connect with your therapist(s). Together you can discuss and evaluate the need for an in-person visit and alternatives. We recognize that not everyone will feel comfortable with an in-person visit at this time and that’s okay. We will provide you with the relevant information and respect your choice. You can be assured choosing not to accept an in-person visit will have no impact on your access to services now or in the future. We will work with you to find the best way possible to support addressing your needs.
In Phase 2, we will begin to open some of our regional sites to better enable access to services throughout the region. As we expand the number of visits we are able to offer, all of the protective measures we’ve put in place will remain. The doors to our offices will continue to be locked to the general public to help protect you and your family. You will be pre-screened before your appointment and screened again the day of your appointment. We are also continuing to request that only one care giver accompany a client to the scheduled appointment. This is necessary to ensure we minimize unnecessary contacts and assists in maintaining physical distancing measures. Adults entering TVCC facilities will be required to wear a mask. TVCC staff will also be wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

We are excited to be entering this next phase and are really looking forward to seeing more of you soon.
