TVCC began providing a limited number of scheduled in-person visits with clients in mid-June. Since that time, we have gradually offered more visits to more clients. We have moved purposefully and slowly to ensure the safety and well-being of you the clients and families we serve and our staff.
You may be wondering what the impact of the current increase in COVID cases on Ontario might mean for in-person visits at TVCC? At this time, for clients and families, there is none. We will continue to put client safety as our top priority by following all provincial and local health recommendations as well as any Ministry directions. As we continue to provide in-person services where it is appropriate to do so, we continue to hold to the important restrictions, safety measures and precautions that have been put in place. This includes continuing to control entry to all TVCC sites, daily staff COVID-19 screening, active screening for every client and family coming to TVCC prior to each visit, wearing masks, employing enhanced cleaning and disinfecting practices and employing physical distancing measures wherever possible. Additionally, for in-person visits, appropriate levels of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are always required. We have developed many protocols to reduce risk as we have worked through the phases of reopening to make us all as safe as we can be.
We intend to continue to see clients in-person for needs that cannot be met through virtual service, or who require a physical intervention (e.g., a wheel chair fitting) or physical assessment, or where technology will not allow a feasible service. We will continue to offer virtual services, education opportunities and activities as the preferred and safest option for intervention. Virtual assessment and treatment services continue to be the primary method of service delivery where ever possible.
A few things to expect when coming for in-person Service
- Each client may be accompanied by one parent / caregiver
- You will be required to answer the COVID -19 Screening questions before being admitted for your appointment
- All visitors entering TVCC facilities will be required to wear a mask as mandated by the Ontario Provincial Government.
Lastly, we recognize that overall and with the current increase in COVID-19 cases in the province that not everyone may feel comfortable with in-person visits and that’s okay. We will always try to provide you with the relevant information and respect your choice. You can be assured choosing not to accept an in-person visit will have no impact on your access to services now or in the future.
If you still have questions or concerns about your or your child/youth’s needs, please connect with your therapist to discuss. To get an idea of how in-person visits might be different than what you may have experienced in the past, check out Mark’s visit to TVCC.
