What to Expect

Positive Parent Advocacy is a two-part, online, interactive workshop designed to support parents/caregivers of children with disabilities as they navigate the education system.

Part One: Defining Parent Advocacy: Explores how the role of advocate applies to parents/caregivers of children with special needs/disabilities. This session will look at building effective communication and setting mutual goals between home and school with tools and opportunities to plan ahead.  

Part Two: Positive Parent Advocacy in Action at School:  Put into practice solution-focused strategies and tools to foster positive communication and team building with your child's school.

This session will examine practical communication tools and the parent's role in  the processes and paperwork of school life. IEP's, IPRC's,  therapy services, and other school topics will be covered.
