Managing the Role of Caregiver of a Youth with a Disability

For parents/caregivers of TVCC youth 12 yrs +.

What to Expect

Wellness Project Caregiver Education Series: How Do I Do it All?

Needs change significantly as your child ages.

Services they were once eligible for may change into something else, challenges may suddenly present themselves that were not there previously, and your child's own desires or behaviours can even become different as they grow up.

Caregivers are often the service coordinator for their child's care, as well as holding many other roles in their life. These large tasks can become overwhelming at times.

This workshop offers tips and tricks for how to cope with potential stressors, how to identify what stress can look like, and how to work with your teen to better support both of your emotional needs during these periods of change. Additionally, we will talk about strategies that can better support caregivers with the coordination of service for their child.

BONUS**If you are looking for something for your youth aged child to do while you attend this workshop they may be interested in joining the Building Social Skills with Lego and Games group that runs at the same time. Please indicate this when registering.

This initiative is part of TVCC's Wellness Project. The Wellness Project is a three-year program aimed at rebuilding and enhancing mental wellness for youth and their families. We understand that the past few years have brought unique challenges, and we want to help. We're running programs with a focus on connection, mindfulness, physical activity, and new skills.
