Who Should be Referred?  E-mail

Children (newborn - 18 years) who display one or more of the characteristics below:

  • frequent choking/coughing during/after meals
  • gurgly respiration or voice quality
  • chronic respiratory problems (such as pneumonia)
  • poor weight gain associated with feeding difficulties
  • new onset of refusing specific food thicknesses
  • significant infant lethargy during feeds resulting in poor weight gain
  • repeated swallows to clear food from mouth
  • pauses in breathing or turning blue during feeds


How to Refer
Referral must be made by a physician. A brief description of the child's medical history and feeding and swallowing difficulties would be helpful.
