Children (newborn - 18 years) who display one or more of the characteristics below:
- frequent choking/coughing during/after meals
- gurgly respiration or voice quality
- chronic respiratory problems (such as pneumonia)
- poor weight gain associated with feeding difficulties
- new onset of refusing specific food thicknesses
- significant infant lethargy during feeds resulting in poor weight gain
- repeated swallows to clear food from mouth
- pauses in breathing or turning blue during feeds
How to Refer
Referral must be made by a physician. A brief description of the child's medical history and feeding and swallowing difficulties would be helpful.
