What is Therapeutic Recreation?
Therapeutic Recreation at Thames Valley Children's Centre provides opportunities for chidren and youth with disabilities to develop and maintain skills, knowledge and behaviours in the areas of recreation and leisure.

What are the Benefits?
Therapeutic Recreation provides opportunities for development in all areas of a child's physical, social, emotional and cognitive life. Benefits can include:

What is Available for Me/My Child?
We work closely with you/your child, your family, and therapists to identify goals and a treatment plan to meet individual needs, abililities and interests. We can help with Skill Development (e.g., learning sport skills or adapted water activities), Leisure Awareness and Education (identifying personal interests and learning how to access and participate in activities at home, school, and in the community), Recreation Opportunities (providing group or individual activities to promote readiness to participate in community programs), and Inclusion Support (helping partners, such as teachers and recreation providers, develop strategies to promote participation for children and youth of all ages).
