The purpose of the pool is to support the therapeutic and recreational activities of children and young adults with disabilities and their families.  Specifically,

  • To achieve therapy goals in individual or group sessions with the therapist or independent from the therapist.
  • Individual or group activity which act as a stepping stone to community swimming participation (i.e., Family Swim, Opportunities to Participate).
  • Individual and group recreational swims when no other community pool is appropriate.

WHO CAN USE THE POOL?

Our pool is open to clients of Thames Valley Children’s Centre and their families to:

  • Swim as a family

  • Have some of their child’s physical education classes in a pool setting;

  • Practice therapy goals with their therapist or on their own;

  • Take part in an ‘Opportunities to Participate’ program such as Family Swim.

All staff and clients using the pool, without a lifeguard, will require a pool orientation prior to, or at the time of, the first booking.  Volunteer assistance is also available upon request.
