The orthopaedic surgeon, biomechanist and physiotherapist review the results of the assessment together to arrive at recommendations regarding further management. A follow up Orthopaedic Clinic appointment is scheduled with the child and family to discuss the results and review treatment options. Information is provided to assist clients and families to make informed decisions. Is There A Post Treatment Evaluation? If a treatment such as bracing or surgery is decided upon, a repeat gait analyis will be scheduled to evaluate the effects of the intervention. For surgery, the repeat analysis will be scheduled 9-12 months later; for bracing, approximately 1-2 months later. Who Can Refer To The Gait Lab? Clients are referred to the gait laboratory by the Orthopaedic consultants who attend our orthopaedic clinics. Clients referred must be 19 years of age or younger, are able to walk either with the aid of assistive devices or independently, and demonstrate abnormal walking patterns. |
