Plan a fun & successful event for TVCC!

There are a number of creative ways to raise money to support Thames Valley Children's Centre. Here are a few fun ideas...

  • Dress Down Day at work
  • Dance Marathon Silent Auction
  • Hot Dog Eating Contest
  • Dinner Party
  • Garage Sale
  • Birthday Party

Some things to think about as you prepare your event:

  • Set objectives
    • Here are some sample questions to help you set the event’s objectives:
      • How much money do we plan to raise?
      • Who is our target audience?
      • What kind of experience do we want our audience to have?
  • Identify your audience
    • Who do you hope will attend?
    • How will you reach them?
  • Plan the activities and the appearance of the event
    • Select the location
    • Is there parking available?
    • Are washrooms readily available & accessible?
    • Is the location visible?
  • Define the resources needed
    • Are volunteers needed? If so, how many and when?
    • Is audiovisual equipment or other technology needed?
  • Create a budget
  • Manage the risks
    • Are special permits or licenses required?
    • Have you planned for bad weather? Do you have a rain or snow date?
  • Plan the details of the event
    • Create a “Day of the Event” agenda making sure to assign responsibility for each task.
    • Create a supply list of “things” you will need (including audio visual and technology, staging, special equipment and general supplies like pens, paper, tape and scissors)
  • Thank You’s!
    • Don’t forget to thank:
      • Donors
      • Volunteers
      • Committee Members
  • Evaluate
    • What worked?
    • What could be done better next time?

Register Your Event

As a registered charity, Thames Valley Children’s Centre has the ability to issue official donation receipts that provide donors with tax deductions or tax credits. Since the issuance of a tax receipt lowers the taxable income or tax payable of donors, there are many rules and guidelines to adhere to in order to keep TVCC's charitable status in good standing.  For more information, please see the attached: Receipts Quick Reference Guide

A TVCC client, presents a donation from her birthday party.  Figuring  she had enough things to clutter her room, our young donor asked friends and family to make a donation to the Centre, instead of giving her more gifts!

Dr. John LaPorta, TVCC CEO, receives a generous donation from Shaw Auto Recyclers from their Golf Tournament.

On behalf of the children & families that TVCC serves, thank you in advance for being someone who cares!
